This means that we can guarantee that the beef you get from Montana Natural Beef has never received growth promoting antibiotics or hormones. Studies show that cattle implanted with HGP’s (Hormonal Growth Promotants) had a 24% reduction in marbling at any time during the feeding period. Marbling is the natural deposition of fat particles among the muscle fibers of the beef.
Consistent marbling results in more tender and flavorful beef. This indicates that each time an animal is implanted with a HGP it causes a hormone induced growth spurt. The effect of this is an interruption of the natural growth pattern of muscle which in turn results in inconsistent muscle fibers and marbling.
